Care for Seniors

Senior Care

Seniors may need caregivers for a variety of reasons. Today’s seniors want to live independent lives, and stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Many of our clients are fairly self-sufficient, but need a few hours a week of assistance for certain tasks, while others need full-time care, but are still able to live in their homes comfortably when they have that care.

Many seniors are also wary of change. We understand this, and we take the time to meet with you in your home so that we are able to suggest a compatible caregiver that suits your personality and interests.

Our caregivers are available to suit your needs, whatever they are, on a live-in or live-out basis. As time permits, they will do light housekeeping, including laundry, grocery shopping, (with or without the client), and meal preparation, and they will accompany clients to medical and other appointments. Most caregivers are Personal Support Workers (PSW), Health Care Aides (HCA) or Registered Practical Nurses (RPN), and are very familiar with palliative care, Alzheimers’, dementia, and many other conditions.

Today, patients are often sent home from hospital much earlier than in the past. As a result, many of our clients are referred by a Hospital’s Discharge Planner. Cardinal owner, Moyra Stephen, often meets with a client while still in hospital before release, so that Cardinal can have the right caregiver in place as soon as the client gets home. Care can then be adjusted according to the client’s ongoing needs.
